2025 Surf Camp for Kids with Special Needs

VOLUNTEER FORM

We will be meeting at Two Locations This Year!

All days are Saturdays except for July 11

Oceanside just south of the pier - June 14th and 21st, Friday July 11th, and July 19th

Encinitas D Street Beach (Moonlight Beach) - August 2nd, 16th, and 23rd,

We may need to change locations of surf camp based on beach conditions like how much sand is on the beach, or large events where there will not be enough parking. We will let you know as far in advance as we can.

Volunteer Duties Include:

Helping set up, sign in the children, organize snacks, etc.
Helping children in and out of wetsuits
Checking the families in and getting them situated
Assisting surf instructors in and out of the water (no surfing skills required)
Teaching children to surf in the white water (must be experienced surfer or comfortable in the water)
Cheering and shouting words of encouragement
Playing with and encouraging anxious children
Taking photos and video (must have own camera)

All ages are welcome to volunteer! Kids that are 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Surfing Madonna Surf Camp Volunteer Waiver:

I know that volunteering is potentially hazardous activity. I should not volunteer unless I am medically able. I agree to abide by any decision of a Surf Camp official relative to my ability to safely complete the volunteer task. I assume all risks associated with volunteering for the event, including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants/volunteers, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, tripping over potential rocks or debris on the beach, injury in the water while teaching the students how to surf, injury due to lifting heavy items, injury caused by any set up or break down task, colliding with on lookers or others in the water, with all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your accepting my volunteer request, I hereby declare for the City of Encinitas, City of Oceanside, and the State of California, myself, my heirs, executors, administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, waive and release Surfing Madonna Oceans Project, any and all partners, sponsors, their representatives and successors, from all claims or liability for death, personal injury, or property damage of any kind or nature whatsoever arising out of, or in the course of, my participating in this event whether same be caused by negligence or fault. This release and waiver extends to all claims of every kind or nature whatsoever, foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown. The undersigned further grants full permission to sponsors and or agents authorized by them to use any photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event for any purpose. Minors accepted only with a parent or guardian's signature.

The current plan is for Surf Camp to be held at Oceanside Beach south of the pier on June 1, and 22, July 13 and 20 and at Encinitas D Street Beach near Moonlight Beach July 27, Aug 3, 17, and 24 and Sept 7 and 14, however if beach conditions are not adequate as determined by Surfing Madonna Oceans Project, Surf Camp may be moved to another nearby location with as much pre-notification as possible.
